Claridge

Architectural Consultancy

Claridge Architects is an award-winning RIBA chartered London-based practice established by Marcus Claridge in 2004. Known for their contemporary, contextual and sensitive designs, working predominantly within an urban setting, the scale of their projects range from pop-up pavilions to entire urban blocks with multiple programmes and stakeholders.

They have expertise designing and delivering projects within the commercial, residential and educational sectors, detailed with precision and subtlety. With an in-depth knowledge of London planning policies and a strategic, solution driven approach, the practice has a growing reputation for delivering high quality residential development projects. The firm also has substantial experience working on both new-build and listed building refurbishments.

Case Study: Pershore Street
Pershore Street is a design-led, sustainable and contextually driven scheme. The brief was for a residential-led, mixed-use scheme with 379 residential units. Street level perimeter commercial units and landscaped areas provided active frontages and visual amenity on all elevations. The scheme went through rigorous experimentation, testing and discussion to evolve a massing to successfully engage with and improve the site and its surrounding context. The building heights follow similar contextual examples within the area. An increase in height on the eastern corner was implemented to provide a focal point for the two long vistas along the extensive street-scene on Pershore Street. In pursuit of a contemporary, yet contextually responsive design Claridge Architects carefully analysed the physical and cultural context to inform the architectural language to create a meaningful piece of bespoke architecture.
